Fresh new season Certified Organic Broccolini - bio-dynamic - super high in nutrients.
Portion Size: Various bunch sizes are now available.
This lanky vegetable is a hybrid; first created in 1993, it's a cross between Broccoli and Chinese broccoli. It has small florets, long stalks, and a few small leaves — all of which are edible. Compared to the bitter flavor of regular Broccoli, Broccolini is more mild, with a sweet, earthy taste.
Farmers: Darren Aitken, Vortex Veggies,
Vortex Vegies is a 16 acre certified Australian Demeter Biodynamic market garden, run by Darren Aitken, in Inverleigh, Victoria. They started growing biodynamic vegetables in 1997 and became Demeter certified by the Biodynamic Research Institute in 2000.
Broccoli is high in many nutrients, including fiber, vitamin C, vitamin K, iron and potassium. Broccoli also contains more protein than most other vegetables. Broccoli can be enjoyed both raw and cooked, but recent research shows that gentle steaming provides the most health benefits.
Storage recommendation: As our organic fruit and vegetables are natural and not treated with any preserving agent, we recommend that that they are kept in the fridge or cool temperatures to slow down any ripening if not being eaten once received.
