A tropical fruit that has a sweet, delicate taste. the dragon fruit’s texture is often compared to that of a kiwi due to the tiny black seeds inside, and many people describe the taste as somewhere between a kiwi, a pear and a watermelon. It's a great source of antioxidants and vitamin C with minerals, especially calcium and phosphorus.

This vividly pink tropical fruit with yellow- and green-tipped spines is actually a type of cactus, and is native to Mexico, Central America and South America. The fruit is also very popular in Asian countries such as Cambodia, Thailand and Malaysia. The fruit was recently introduced into Australia several years ago and it was found to grow well in the northern tropical part of the country.

If the fruit is very firm, let it ripen a few days until the flesh gives slightly.

Storage: keep well chilled in the fridge, they are arriving a day or two off ripening, when they turn a deep yellow/orange colour. Eat then within a few days.
